Zane - Inspired by Lartigue

Caught these people performing meditative body movements in Spokane public park.  My purpose was to catch the long shadows with their bodies defined in their shadows.  Note that there is a fourth person, on the far right with only his shadow.  1/40s, F/13.0, ISO 800, BW, Sony DSC-R1.

Claire - Inspired by Kertesz/Camera in Landscape

Nikon D90; f/11, 1/40, ISO 200.

SPLASH- Andrea

This was something I've been wanting to do for a few months, and since my extension tubes arrived in the mail this week I thought I'd give it a shot. It was a really fun and easy to set up. The colors in the water are from a watercolor painting reflected into the water, not from photoshop. The white balance was set to tungsten to give it a bluish hue. After MANY tries, I got a few good shots.

Bob - Splash

The assignment led to a day of travel.

I was trying to locate an element(s) to fullfill the scope and my objective of finding a unique splash!

On my link there are several I found during our journey.

I made an attempt to splash the splash but it failed.

Dave - Splash and Sun Spots

I intentionally played with the sunspots in this photo. I took several without and some with the spots. I am not sure that it helped or took away from it. I went for the splash off the old water wheel and included the little waterfalls in the brook.

Shelley - Like Lartigue!

This was taken two weeks ago on our vacation. I think it feels like the beach shot by Jacques-Henri Lartigue.

CHRIS - SPLASH

This was a tough assignment, choosing only one shot. I'm general not a rule breaker, but I could not make the choice, this time I'm going to post 2 images and take the heat..

Splash

I noticed how cool the splash was while throwing the tennis ball for my dog......so I asked my husband to throw it a few (too many) times so that I could take a picture!

Linda Foss Splash in Black & White

Drew Rickman - Splash

I tried my hand at food coloring and water. The whole experience wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. But I got a couple shots I liked. I liked the minimalistic nature of this image. I shot this at f/2.8, 1/10, iso 200, wb on indoor fluorescent setting.

Claire - Splash

I was fiddling around with the tripod and the shutter speed and the fish. . . I was hoping one would jump for me but they almost never do when you're watching. So I worked on the splash of the falls. Sometimes you just have to work with what you've got. Nikon D90, f/16, shutter .5; ISO 200, spot metering.

Greg - Touch down!

I had a really busy weekend. One of my best friends got married on Saturday and my high school reunion was also this weekend. While taking some pictures for my friend's wedding I noticed this flock of birds coming in for a landing. I didn't think I was going to have time to either create something with a splash in it or find time to go shoot, so this was fortuitous.

Capitol Splash

Capitol Splash: F 5.6 Shutter 1/400 ISO 400: I chose this photo mainly because of the range of blues and the mirror like reflections seen on the ground. John O.

Jessica Little - Inspiration - Inge Morath's "Dancer, Feria in Sevilla, Spain, 1987"

Not surprisingly I found my daughter twirling at the Farmer's market and remembered Inge Morath's image from class.  I decided to convert this to b&w like the inspiration shot.
Canon 30D, f 13, 1/25 sec.

Jessica Little - Splash

Breaking the rule a bit with this as the gull and it's splashes from take-off split the image on the diagonal.  The texture change from sand to water runs parallel and maybe helps since that line is off center.  I do like that the reflexion of the seagull adds a little weight on the bottom.
Taken with my Canon 30D.  f 8.0, 1/100 sec, 100 ISO, with circular polarizer.

Jessica Simon - Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Grand Prix des Automobil-Club de France

My mom Bev riding her horse Gunner. Canon 40d, 1/25, f20, ISO 200, TV. I used a tripod and purposely wanted the blurred motion. I'm trying to get into blurred shots...especially when they are taken on purpose. I also edited this photo in lightroom.

Jessica Simon - Long Shot "Ducky SPLASH"

A little ducky and I had a few minutes of splish-splash fun. Canon 40d 1/80, ISO 500, +1 exposure, TV, f4.5, auto white balance.

The Cat and The Ducks

The Cat and The Ducks: Shutter 1/500 F 5.6 ISO 400. I enjoy seeing pets having fun with their owners. Seeing the dog in Jacques Henri Lartigue photo playing in the beach gave me the inspiration to find pets playing outdoors. I went to Capitol Lake looking for owners playing with their pets. At about twilight I saw a Bobcat and the owner walking along Capitol Lake. The owner let the Bobcat in the water and the Bobcat just starting playing with the ducks like a kitten. I ask and received permission to photograph the Bobcat and this is one of my favorites. The Cat looks like it was stalking but actually the cat was just looking as the ducks approached and splashed around the Bobcat. John O.

Zane - Splash

68 mm 1/150s, F/5.6, ISO 160, WB, Vivid, 7:00 evening with clear skies.   This image of the Tivoli Fountain was taken at the beginning of the "golden hoür" providing a good opportunity to experiment with the aperture, shutter speed and polarizer.   The fountain shots differed depending upon my position - back to the sun, sidelights, and face to the sun - all easy to explore because of easy access all around.   I like the feeling of the blurry splash, long soft sidelit shadows in the background, the popcorn texture of the water surface, the clear stream lines in the foreground.  The droplets in the foreground streams refracted the sunlight, catching sparkle and some colors.   Happy Evening!
