Claire - Lakefair

I took a lot of pictures from the spot across the lake. This is one of my favorites because of the people - but I really don't like the Capital Center building dominating the picture, but there was no way to avoid it or crop it out. (I suppose with a lot of Photoshop time I could get rid of it.) F 18, 1/20, ISO 250.

Phobia - Claire

I mostly don't take pictures of people; I never think I get very good shots. I also don't really take sports pictures. But my friend Roy is a golf nut and wanted some pictures so I went with him while he hit a bucket of balls. I got a couple that I liked, although no good portraits. I had a hard time figuring out the timing to get the club hitting the ball. Roy was shot @ f 5.6, s 1/200, ISO 200; the club shot was f 18/ s 1/50, ISO 200.

Yes - a self portrait in a dance.  This was difficult from self perspective, and then actually getting the right amount of movement and legs in the right place.

The neighbors must have thought I was nuts, them peeking through their window.

Fun!!

Drew Rickman - Photo Phobia

I had some Photoshop problems this weekend, so I didn't have a chance to finish this on time. Better late than never, right?

I'm with Greg on this one, I like being behind the camera, not in front of it. So here is a self portrait...

I had quite a few Lakefair images that I ended up liking. It was alot of fun once it got darker! These are just a few of the motion ones that I liked.

Andrea - Photo Phobia

I don't normally don't take pics of wild animals, unless you count my crazy dogs as wild, which they sometimes are :-) These little birdies just hatched out of their eggs earlier this week. Aren't they cute, sort of?

I had a hard time figuring out what to photograph at Lakefair. There was so much going on, and everything was changing so quickly, it felt a bit chaotic. I usually have my kids with me when I take pictures at places like this, and without them as the focus I felt a bit lost. But it was a good experience and got me looking at things differently.

I knew that I wanted to work on sitting in one spot and seeing what goes on around me. I get very impatient about just sitting and watching. My goal was to watch people and get blurred motion that way, but it was very difficult. So I started to watch cyclists and playing with the camera functions. I was way to slow in my reaction for people blur, so I plan on trying to continue to work on it. Barb thanks for the challenges, I may get frustrated but stepping out of the box is good.

Next to taking people shots is stopping on the road when there are people around. Hard to believe there is a zebra in my neighborhood!

I chose to work on taking people shots. I tried to capture the moment without being too obvious.

Dave - Lakefair

I took this photo of two photographers on a hill over by the lake. I intentionally took it at 2500 ISO to create noise. I had to lay on the hill and shoot up towards them so that the light behind them would create the silhouette that I wanted. 1/50, F 5.0, ISO 2500. When I posted it, it appears darker than what it truly is.

This was very hard for me! I am not the type to go up to people and talk to them unless I am at work. After building up the nerve for an hour or so I found this person. I asked to take her picture and asked if she would sign the waiver. She said "absolutely, what the hell I am not doing anything else." It was a lot easier than I thought it would be once I did it. 1/80, F 13, ISO 100

Jessica Simon - Photo Phobia

My photo phobia was not this weekend but actually the day of class. It was going up to someone and asking to take a photo of them and getting a photo release. Taking pictures in public has been hard for me, but every time I do it I feel more comfortable. I'm glad Barb put us to the test and I did it. Now I know I can do it from now on!!

Jessica Simon - Lakefair Night Shots

I had a good time working with motion at the fair. It was a different environment that tested me, which I liked. Here are a few shots I like from that evening. As always there is more on my website.

Maureen - a phobia

I would not have been able to get this group together nor would I have the team depending on my shot. Obviously the photo needs to have the background blurred and cleaned up -- if I only remembered my Photoshop lessons.

I couldn't think of anything that I'm "phobic" of behind the lens, but I hate being in front of one. I thought I'd try a self portrait...
